Activity organizer sought

7 April 2009

CSTHEA needs an activity coordinator to replace me.

This job is a great way to contribute to the homeschool community without having to be busy year round.

Here is a quick rundown of how I managed the task, but as the new coordinator you may have a better way.

  • July or August: contact various theatre companies to schedule for the year.(I can give you all the contact information. Most can be scheduled online.)
  • Three months before the performance have a brief description of the play, date, time, etc. to the editor of the Espirit
  • As checks arrive you can adjust your reservation numbers up or down.
  • Deposit checks
  • Mail check to the production company (usually required 2 weeks before the performance).
  • There will be a few phone calls and emails to field around the time of large productions, and around money deadlines.

Usually during the fall semester there are clusters of activites (ie. Young Peoples Concert, various plays, and then the ballets). I will be happy to share details of how I organized the reservations, etc. It is important to note that you do not need to attend every play you are making reservations for. All your work is done two weeks before the performance and you do not need to be there for every one.

Our community of homeschoolers is very gracious and appreciative, and they let you know.

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions. I would love to talk to you. Or contact Gary Hargraves at gary@csthea.org.
