A Call to Prayer — HB 2795
from THEA Board member Cory Bennett,
President of Smoky Mtn. HEA
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will trust in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we will rise and stand upright." Psalm 20:7-8
In our battle to protect and retain our freedom, the human tendency is to rely primarily on what we or others can do in the strength of our flesh. Our phone calls, emails and visits willl be (from a human perspective) impressive, but they will not win the day.
Freedom, in any legitimate form, is a gift of our Creator God, who grants freedom so that we can be free to love and follow Him. He has ordained that He will act when His people pray and place their trust in Him.
While our phone calls, emails, and personal contact with elected officials is important, we must not forget to pray. Have you called? Great. Have you written? We owe you our gratitude. Have you prayed?
Whether we call, write, or travel to Nashville, we all can pray, and in this area we must not fail. Please take time this morning to go before the throne of God. Thank Him for our freedom and ask Him to stand on our behalf. He delights in the prayers and praise of His people.
